I have spent 25 years on the water. In Alanya alone I have personally boarded and inspected more pirate boats than I can count. From the outside they all look the same wooden hull, skull flag, foam cannons on the deck. From where I stand, the differences between them are enormous. This is the guide I give anyone who wants to book a pirate boat in Alanya and actually enjoy it.

What Is a Pirate Boat

What Actually Happens on a Pirate Boat Tour in Alanya?

The pirate boat is Alanya's most popular sea activity and for good reason. You board a large wooden vessel decorated like a pirate ship, sail along the coastline for around five hours, stop at swimming bays, pass through sea caves, and at some point the foam cannons go off and the music gets loud.

Lunch is included on most boats. Hotel pickup is included. The route typically covers Alanya's famous sea caves Pirate's Cave, Lovers' Cave, Phosphorous Cave and a stop at or near Cleopatra Beach.

It sounds simple. And in the right hands, it is a genuinely great day out. But the quality of that day depends entirely on which boat you are on. I have been on pirate boats in Alanya where the life jackets were mouldy and the captain had no licence. I have also been on boats where everything was in order and the guests had one of the best afternoons of their holiday.

That gap is exactly why CertiGo exists and why my verification matters.

What's Typically Included
Standard Pirate Boat Programme
🚐 Hotel pickup from your hotel across Alanya
Departure from Alanya Harbour around 10:00–11:00
🏴‍☠️ Sea caves Pirate's Cave, Lovers' Cave, Phosphorous Cave
🏖️ Swimming stops including near Cleopatra Beach
🫧 Foam party depends on the boat version
🍽️ Lunch on board included on most versions
🏨 Return transfer back to your hotel
Duration: approximately 5 hours on the water. Full day with transfers.

Kemal's Honest Assessment

What I Actually Check Before Approving a Pirate Boat

Most tour platforms list boats based on price and availability. I list boats based on what I find when I step on board. Here is what I look for and what separates a verified boat from the ones I reject.

What I Check Why It Matters Pass Rate
Life jackets quantity & condition One per passenger, children's sizes available, not mouldy or expired Non-negotiable
Captain's licence Many boats in Alanya operate without proper credentials. I check the document. Non-negotiable
Hull & engine condition A boat that looks good from the pier can have serious mechanical problems below deck Checked every season
Passenger capacity vs actual guests Overcrowding is common on budget boats. I verify the licensed capacity is respected. Checked every season
Crew professionalism I sail with the guests on the first inspection. How the crew behaves when things get busy tells me everything. Tested in person
Food & hygiene on board Lunch is included on most tours. I eat it. If it's not acceptable I say so. Tested in person

Kemal's note: In Alanya's harbour you will see men with tablets offering pirate boat tickets at €10, €12, €15. I know those boats. Some of them I have inspected and rejected. The price looks appealing until you are out at sea on a vessel that should not be carrying passengers. Book through a verified platform it costs a few euros more and it is worth every one of them.

The Pirate Boats I Have Approved And Which One to Book

There are three pirate boat versions on CertiGo. All three have passed my inspection. Here is how they differ and who each one is for.

✓ CertiGo Approved · Kemal's #1 Pirate Boat Pick
Alanya Pirate Boat CertiGo Approved Family Boat

This is the one I recommend to most guests. I have been on this boat multiple times the hull is sound, the life jackets are in proper condition, the captain holds a valid licence and runs a professional operation. The crew is experienced and genuinely enjoys the work, which makes a difference when you have a full boat of guests wanting a good time. The foam party on this vessel is properly done: the right music, the right moment, not just soap and water sprayed randomly. Among all the pirate boats I have inspected in Alanya, this one has the best combination of safety, energy, and overall guest experience. The number of returning guests over 8,800 tells its own story.

Elite Experience
Alanya Pirate Boat Premium Elite Tour

This is the pirate boat for guests who want the full experience but prefer more space and a calmer atmosphere. Smaller group, better on-board service, more room to move. The boat itself is in excellent condition I inspect it every season. If you are travelling with older family members or simply prefer not to be packed in shoulder to shoulder during the foam party, this is the version I would point you towards. The extra cost buys you comfort, not just a label.

Budget Option
Alanya Pirate Boat Best Price Option

The most affordable pirate boat I will put my name on. I have checked this vessel the safety essentials are there and the captain is licensed. The experience is the same concept: sea caves, foam, music, swimming. The service level and on-board comfort are lower than the approved version, and the boat is busier. But if your budget is tight and you still want a real pirate boat experience rather than one of the unverified boats sold on the harbour front, this is the option I would recommend at this price point.

How to Choose

Which Pirate Boat Is Right for You? My Honest Breakdown

After years of inspecting and sailing on these boats, here is exactly how I direct different guests.

👨‍👩‍👧 Families with Children

The CertiGo Approved Pirate Boat is the best choice for families. Children love the pirate theme, the foam party, and the sea cave stops. I personally verify that children's life jackets are on board and properly sized. The crew on this boat is good with kids.

🎉 Groups & Holiday Parties

Again the CertiGo Approved version. The energy on this boat in high season is exactly what a group wants loud music, foam, a full boat of people all there to have a good time. This is the one that gets the best group atmosphere.

👫 Couples & Guests Who Prefer Comfort

The Elite version at €27. Smaller group, better service, more space on deck. You still get the pirate boat experience caves, foam, swimming without being packed in. Worth the extra €2 if comfort matters to you.

💰 Budget-Conscious Travellers

The Budget option at €18 is the lowest price I will recommend. I have checked it. The basics are in order. You will have a real pirate boat experience just do not compare the service level to the approved version.

🌊 Guests Who Prefer Calm Water

If you want the sea caves and Cleopatra Beach but not the foam and loud music, the Relax Boat is what I recommend instead. No party, no chaos just the Mediterranean and a proper lunch.

⛵ Private Groups & Special Occasions

For birthdays, anniversaries or groups who want the boat to themselves, see the private yacht options. These are verified separately and can be arranged exclusively for your group with a custom route.

Kemal's note: The most common mistake I see is guests choosing based on the foam party photo alone. The foam is the same on every boat. What is not the same is the condition of the vessel, the competence of the captain, and what happens if something goes wrong at sea. Book a boat that has been inspected not just photographed.

Common Questions

Pirate Boat Alanya: Frequently Asked Questions

Is the pirate boat suitable for children?

Yes and children tend to love it. The pirate theme, the foam, the sea caves and the swimming stops make for a genuinely memorable day for kids. I personally verify that children's life jackets are available in the correct sizes on every boat I certify. For very young children or babies, contact us before booking and I will advise on the most appropriate version for your situation.

What is the foam party exactly? Is it mandatory?

The foam party is a section of the tour usually mid-route where foam cannons on the deck go off, the music gets loud and everyone dances and gets wet. It lasts around 20–30 minutes. It is part of the pirate boat concept and yes, you will get wet. If you do not want the foam and the party atmosphere, the Relax Boat is the right choice for you instead.

Does the pirate boat stop at Cleopatra Beach?

The route passes by Cleopatra Beach and most boats make a swimming stop in that area. However, getting off the boat and walking on the beach itself depends on the specific tour version and how busy the beach is that day. The swimming stop near Cleopatra is included the beach visit is not always guaranteed. Check the specific tour page for current route details.

Is hotel pickup included?

Yes. All pirate boat tours on CertiGo include hotel pickup across Alanya Mahmutlar, Oba, Konaklı, Avsallar, Kestel, the city centre. Confirm your hotel at the time of booking and the driver will come to you. Return transfer is also included.

What should I bring on a pirate boat?

Swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, a hat and a waterproof case for your phone. You will get wet do not bring anything you cannot afford to soak. Cash for extra drinks on board is useful. Most pirate boat tours include lunch. Leave valuables at the hotel if you can.

What sea caves does the pirate boat pass?

The standard pirate boat route covers Alanya's famous sea caves along the base of the castle peninsula: the Pirate's Cave (Korsan Mağarası), Lovers' Cave (Aşıklar Mağarası) and Phosphorous Cave (Fosforlu Mağara). The phosphorous cave glows in the dark a genuinely impressive sight. The boat slows down at each cave so guests can look inside.

Is lunch included?

Yes, on all three CertiGo pirate boat versions. A meal is served on board during the tour. I eat the food on every boat I inspect if it does not meet a basic standard I say so in my assessment. Drinks other than water and soft drinks are usually available to purchase separately.

Can I book same-day?

Often yes, depending on availability. In July and August the approved boat fills quickly. Contact the CertiGo team via WhatsApp at +90 546 642 06 86 you will get a real answer within minutes, not an automated response.

Why not just buy a ticket on the harbour front?

Because I know those boats too. Some of them I have inspected and rejected. A ticket from a man with a tablet on the pier gives you no information about the vessel's condition, the captain's credentials or the actual capacity on the day. The few euros difference is not worth the risk. Every boat on CertiGo has been physically inspected by me that is the only promise I make and I keep it.
