I was born in Kazakhstan, grew up between Almaty and Karaganda, and ended up in Alanya in 2011. I didn't plan to stay but the mountains here got under my skin. For the first decade I worked as a guide for multiple different safari operators across the region. That means I've driven the same Taurus routes with different jeeps, different group sizes, different standards of vehicle maintenance, and very different attitudes toward the people sitting in the back. I've seen what a good tour looks like. I've also seen operators cut corners on safety, serve bad food, and treat guests like numbers. I left one company because of it. Yes. Families with children join regularly and it's one of the most popular family activities in Alanya. Children under a certain age often receive discounted or free entry. That said, the off-road sections are bumpy if you have very young children or anyone with back problems, contact us before booking and we'll advise on the best option.
Light, comfortable clothing you don't mind getting dusty and wet. Closed shoes for walking on uneven ground. A hat and sunscreen for the open sections. A waterproof case or dry bag for your phone. A towel if you plan to swim at Dim River. A small amount of cash for village vendors.
