I've spent 25 years on these waters. I've passed every beach in Alanya from the sea, and walked most of them. What I'm giving you here isn't a polished list — it's what I actually know: which beach in Alanya is right for you, and why.
Part 01 / 05
Cleopatra Beach
If I had to pick one, this is it. Long, wide, fine-grained sand — the kind that doesn't stick and doesn't burn your feet. You can go in with a sunbed or just lay your own towel down, no one's going to push you out. The seabed is sandy all the way in, so you're walking on clean ground from the first step.
It's close to the centre, easy to reach, and popular with locals and tourists alike. If you're only going to one beach in Alanya, make it this one.
Kemal's note: I've passed Cleopatra by boat more times than I can count. Even from the water you can tell — the colour and texture of the sand is different from everything around it.
Part 02 / 05
Damlataş Beach
Right where Cleopatra ends, directly below the cable car. The castle cliff is right in front of you while you swim — there aren't many places in the world where you get a view like that from the water.
It's smaller and quieter than Cleopatra. A good option if you want a bit more space and less noise. If you're already taking the cable car up, the beach is right there — easy to combine into one day.
Kemal's note: Every time we pass this stretch on the boat, guests reach for their cameras. The castle and the beach together in one frame — it does something to people.
Part 03 / 05
Castle Beach (Kale Plajı)
In front of the Red Tower, through the old historic gate. Most tourists walk right past without knowing it's there — which is exactly why it's worth finding. Mixed sand and pebble, with the castle walls right beside you.
This isn't for people who need soft sand and a sunbed. It's for people who want something different — somewhere that actually feels like Alanya, not a beach resort.
Kemal's note: For anyone who wants to feel Alanya rather than just visit it, this spot is in a category of its own. Genuine, not staged.
Part 04 / 05
Oba, İncekum, Okurcalar, Türkler and Mahmutlar
Oba Beach is a long stretch but mostly rocky, with some sandy patches. Not the most enjoyable for swimming — better for a walk along the shore or just sitting out.
İncekum is probably the best option if you don't like deep water. Walk 100 metres out and it still won't be over your head. Pure sand underfoot the whole way. Families with kids love it here for a reason.
Okurcalar is all hotel beaches. The water is very clean but the shore is a mix of sand and pebble. Fine if you're staying there, not worth going out of your way for.
Türkler is also hotel-front beaches, each hotel with its own section. Not much sand but the sea is clear.
Mahmutlar can have large rocks in places. The water is clean and a bit more wavy than central Alanya. Sand is mostly on dry land here — the shoreline is pebble-heavy, though you can find sandier spots if you look around.
Kemal's note: Alanya is a coastal city from one end to the other. You can swim almost anywhere along it. My honest advice? Stop researching and just go to the nearest beach. The sea here is yours either way.
